At the beginning of his career, he worked as a faculty member at King Saud University in the Computer Science Department.
Dr. Al-Sabti has extensive expertise across several domains, including education, technology, innovation, creativity, scientific research, and cybersecurity. He received prestigious honors, such as the King Abdulaziz Second Class Scarf in 2021 and the King Abdulaziz First Class Medal in 2004. He holds two patents in the field of information technology (specifically, Artificial Intelligence) from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, dating back to 1999. His wealth of experience also includes roles in renowned international companies, including IBM’s Thomas J. Watson Research Center in New York in 1996 and the Hitachi Corporation in Silicon Valley, United States, in 1997.
Dr. Al-Sabti is an active member of various councils and committees. Presently, he serves on the Council of Universities Affairs and participates in the Human Capability Development Program Committee, a pivotal part of Vision 2030. He holds positions on the Board of Directors for Misk Schools, the Board of Trustees of King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, and the Board of Trustees of Naif Arab University for Security Sciences. Additionally, he contributes as a member of the International King Faisal Prize Committee.
His extensive involvement extends to several key roles. He has previously been a member of the Board of Trustees of the King Abdulaziz Foundation, Chairman of the Council of Higher Education, a participant in the Security Committee for the G20 in 2020, and a member of the Preparatory Committee for the G20 Virtual Summit in 2020. He also lends his expertise to the Supervisory Committee for the development of strategies related to two international initiatives led by His Highness the Crown Prince: child protection in the cyber world and empowering women in cybersecurity. Dr. Al-Sabti is an essential contributor to the Board of Directors of the National Cybersecurity Authority and holds the position of Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Award, which honors inventors and talents.
Dr. Al-Sabt has a doctorate and master’s degree in computer science from Syracuse University in the U.S. in 1994 and 1998, respectively. He earned his bachelor’s degree in computer science from King Saud University with first-class honors in 1991. Additionally, he was awarded the Medal of Excellence by King Saud University in 1428 AH.
